Rehoboth Beach Weird Name Yet Top Notch US Beach

rehoboth
The name of Rehoboth Beach sounds like a name of a prophet or king straight out of the Old Testament. Actually, Rehoboth Beach is considered a Dream Town for retirees (according to the AARP magazine, a publication devoted to the welfare of people aged 50 and above). Despite its very small land area (measuring just around one square mile), many couples of retirement age are flocking to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware to either buy an existing house for their retirement years or have one built from scratch. At present, 38% of the population are over the age of 65 while the median age stands at 57. Even surrounding communities near Rehoboth Beach in the same state are experiencing heightened demand for real estate from retirees as well. In fact, Delaware planners predict that there will be 75% more retirees who are 65 years old and above who will relocate to the region within the next 25 years.

Living in Rehoboth Beach

One trend that may limit the number of retirement-age couples who can move into Rehoboth Beach housing is the soaring prices of houses and real estate in that small community. If you are eyeing a Rehoboth Beach residence as your ideal home but find the price being offered to be a bit too much, you can easily look at the surrounding areas of Milton and Long Neck for homes that are more reasonably priced. One reason that prices of homes in Rehoboth Beach are too high right now is because there is so little land to go around for everybody.

The nice part about living in Delaware in general is that property taxes in the state are very low comparatively speaking, while entertainment, food, and other goods do not carry sales tax of any sort. Income tax is not charged on railroad-retirement and Social Security benefits. If you are eligible for qualified pension and investment income maxing out at $12,500, you may opt to file for that to be excluded too.

Lifestyle and Activities

At present, the population of Rehoboth Beach alone stands at less than 1,500 year-round residents all in all. But many people who have succeeded in finding a home in Rehoboth Beach say that the laid-back lifestyle is very conducive to encouraging participation in many fun and fulfilling activities. Some activities that anyone (not just retirees) can enjoy are antiquing (meaning you go hunting for bargains and great deals on antiques); live musical events at the Bandstand; berry picking at either Fifer Orchards, Magee Farms, or Blueberry Lane Farm; cycling along the beach or the Boardwalk; birdwatching; and boating and sailing (among other possible activities.) For those who favor the great outdoors as their form of entertainment and recreation, it is possible to go camping at Trap Pond State Park, Tall Pines Resort Community and Campground, Delaware Seashore State Park, Cape Henlopen State Park, and/or Big Oaks.

Rules and regulations

Like many other beaches in the US, there are certain rules and regulations that are set in place so that everyone can enjoy their day without being disappointed by the behavior of other people. Make sure that you familiarize yourself with these rules and regulations so that any untoward incidents can be avoided.
