Why Celebrities Love South Beach, Florida

South Beach (also known as SoBo) has earned a reputation for being a popular spot for shooting films, television shows and commercials which audiences throughout the US recall and love mainly because of the people who appear in such media productions. Some well-known names in the showbiz industry such as Don Johnson, Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Whitney Houston, Jamie Lee Curtis, and the formidable Arnold Schwarzenegger are all known to have appeared in movie productions that were shot in South Beach, Florida.

Day and Night Activities

South Beach in the daytime is different from South Beach at night. When the sun is out, rollerbladers, bikers on their Harleys and drivers in vintage cars rule the sidewalks and the streets, whizzing freely past models enjoying the day in outdoor cafes. But at night, South Beach comes alive and can get rather loud what with all these people enjoying popular music, dancing to well-loved tunes, and generally just having a great time with their friends and family. It is not uncommon for you to spot celebrities who are after the same thing you are to sample the nightlife of South Beach, Florida. Many parties last until the wee hours of the morning, when pooped partygoers head back to their hotels and homes to sleep until the next round of nighttime partying is set to start.

After the partying

If you've had enough of drinking, dancing and loud conversations to last you awhile, you can head for the beach in the early morning to watch the dawn spread throughout the sky. Then go beachcombing or dive in the waters of South Beach for a bracing swim to clear your mind. After a hearty breakfast, invite any friends who are not so exhausted from the previous night's party to take quiet walks along the beach. Perhaps you could take along a picnic lunch which you can savor when you've found an ideal spot along the beach to spread your picnic cloth.

Places to Visit

When even that gets a bit old and your feet are itching to take you wandering around, there are many other places you can head for to make your South Beach visit more memorable. You could enjoy the sights at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, the Parrot Jungle and Gardens, the Monkey Jungle, or the Miami Seaquarium. There are also the Miami Museum of Science and Space Transit Planetarium, Miami Metro Zoo, Historical Museum of Southern Florida, and of course the Everglades National Park. If you want to learn more about the history of Art Deco, then you will want to sign up for a walking guided tour (which are offered Wednesday to Sunday) through the Art Deco Historic District. You are sure to get hungry from all that walking around so afterwards, why not patronize the local restaurants to fill your growling belly? Some names of popular eating places that come to mind are Wolfie's, Roppongi, Pacific Time, Opium, Nexxt Café, and Moshi Moshi (among many others.)
