  Though Old Orchard Beach itself is a tiny oceanfront resort town, there are many activities you, your family, and friends can participate in while on vacation. During summer nights, fireworks lit from the pier grace the evening sky to delight the crowds that have gathered to watch. There are also live musical performances to entertain those who appreciate it. Since there are more than 4,000 campsites in the vicinity, you will probably be able to find lodgings to suit the size of your party.
ActivitiesIf the sandy beach alone seems lacking for you, you can take part in other activities such as water sports like kayaking, wind surfing, parasailing, fishing and boating. There are also opportunities to try horseback riding, cycling, hiking or miniature golf whichever suits your fancy.You may also hire charter boat rentals which will take you on canoe trips, whale watching tours, and lobster boat tours within the Scarborough Marsh Nature Center. Certain lighthouses in the area are also considered among the oldest in the state of Maine, with the best views of the surroundings that you can get.
ClimateThe highest temperatures in Old Orchard Beach are usually felt in July and August, hovering between 80 degrees to 81 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures generally fall to the 30s (in Fahrenheit) starting in November and extending until February the following year. Fortunately, despite the heat experienced from July to August, rainfall is pretty regular in Old Orchard Beach, ranging from 3 to 5 inches throughout the year.
DirectionsTo get to Old Orchard Beach, you may head to Portland, Maine first then try to find your way along the southwestern coastline until you finally end up in Old Orchard Beach itself.
